As you may recall the age of some of China’s olympic female gymnasts was called into question in the last week as China won gold and USA won silver. At first there was a news report from China 9 months previous to the games that announced one of the girl’s age at 14, meaning she was under the required 16 years of age to compete in the games.
If I have my story straight this was originally reported by the AP but I could be wrong. Anyways, a random hacker with a blogspot account (Stryde Hax) did a little more digging, using google search skills and found a couple of documents reaffirming that fact.
After a week of doing everything to ignore the problem/question, the IOC has now decided to step in and do its own research becasue of the findings of this one blogger. The original news story I read had it right when it said it was amazing that this one regular blogger with a blogspot account got the IOC to move on this while the “real” reporters were eating scorpions and touring the Great Wall.
